a garbled haze out of my waking life.”





Data changes hands in the dark. We know it’s happening, but we don’t know when and how. Our reactions to this are framed by how these breeches are depicted in media and culture.

When databases of a country are accessed by another state, we refer to it as a security threat. Meanwhile, data brokers trade databases containing our information as commercial activity. Parrallel narratives like this complicate our perceptions of harm and fog our vision.
