Fundamental traits that make humans social are seen as impediments to the protagonist’s mission. Her discontent around the animalistic origins of our bodies points to a crisis of humility in our milieu. 

The idea that we can design ourselves out of our current limits is seductive. Sadly, this premise fragments our ability to accept circumstances imposed by nature. We obsess over escaping the very finite nature of our lifespans, our resources, and our planet.
